This course focuses on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) introduced by the United Nations. SDGs are designed to create a more prosperous, equitable and environmentally sustainable world by 2030. By exploring the 17 SDGs, students will be able to understand the global challenges, develop problem-solving skills and develop a sense of global citizenship. This course will cover topics such as poverty, education, gender equality, health, energy, climate change, and sustainability. As a result, it will enable students to gain a holistic perspective on global issues and develop a critical understanding of the relevance of SDGs to their future career and lives.

この授業の目的と展開

Students will do a team-project, and a written assignment as part of the course work besides participating in discussions and writing reaction papers. For the team-project, students will choose one of the SDGs and critically investigate how it is being implemented in a country of their choice suggesting sustainable solutions. Similarly for the written assignment, students will choose an issue from their local community, explore its interconnectedness to other SDGs and recommend sustainable solutions. Through teamwork, group discussions and personal research students will develop their problem-solving skills, communication, and critical thinking.
