“Why was 6 afraid of 7?” was an ice-breaking question at the English Café Luncheon, an on-campus event which allows junior college students to communicate with peers and teachers in English outside of the classroom. The 2024 fall semester Luncheon took place on November 27 in the SL Center. Student leaders prepared posters with fall colors and flags from countries around the world, as well as cheerful decorations, and icebreakers for this lunchtime activity. Teachers and students whose backgrounds also span the globe used the opportunity to get to know each other while speaking in English. Kano-sensei was the first teacher to find the answer to the icebreaker: because 7 ate 9!
